Freedom in Christ and Warning against Legalism

Galatians 5:1-15

5
Chapter 5
1 Christ has set us free for this freedom. Therefore stand firm and do not again be held in the yoke of slavery. 2 Look, I, Paul, say to you that if you get circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 But I testify again to every man who is circumcised that he is a debtor to do the whole Law. 4 You were rendered powerless from Christ, you who are being justified by Law; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For we, by the Spirit from faith, eagerly await the hope of righteousness. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision avails anything nor uncircumcision, but faith working through love. 7 You were running well. Who hindered you from being persuaded by the truth? 8 The persuasion is not from the one who called you. 9 A little leaven leavens the whole lump. 10 I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will not think otherwise; but the one troubling you will bear his judgment, whoever he is. 11 But I, brothers, if I am still proclaiming circumcision, why am I still persecuted? Then the stumbling block of the cross has been nullified. 12 If only they would even cut themselves off—the ones unsettling you. 13 For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 15 But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another.
